Today’s post is a short one but important one. What is the greatest of all skills? Is it programming? Perhaps database management? Perhaps project management? Perhaps it is writing? Perhaps it is system design or system architecture? Almost…the greatest skill of all is LISTENING.
Why do I say this? Because so much time is wasted each day when people don’t listen to one another. What happens from not listening is misunderstanding. Do we want to live with misunderstanding?
Listening will save us time and energy in many ways. Listening will help us to success and completion of important projects. Listening will help us gather the right information and also deliver the right answers.
Even in the world of IT – listening is the greatest skill of all

To hear is one thing. This is superficial. Someone asks “do you hear me?” You reply “yes, I heard you.” However, to listen means that you not only hear something, but you understand it and have actually reflected upon it. So, you are considering the IMPORTANCE of what was said. That is listening.
