Word 2007 Tip #1: File Management

It is very important to organize your files and know where they are.
There is nothing more frustrating than misplacing a file or naming it so that you cannot find it again. If you have recently installed Microsoft Word 2007 and have files from other word processing softwares like Open Office or even previous versions of Microsoft Word (2000 or 2003), I recommend that you create individual folders BY SOFWARE AND VERSION first and foremost. Do not mix your files! Once you have Word 2007 installed, you can slowly open documents into it and then resave them and THEN place these newly formatted files into your Word 2007 folder structure. So, once again, organize your files by SOFTWARE AND VERSION. Then, after editing these documents in Word 2007, you can resave them and place them within your Word 2007 file structure. Also, make sure that you organize your Word 2007 files in a way that suits your computer use - whether it be business, educational, or personal. Remember that the reason behind this lesson is so that you can find your files when you need them.
